Touchpad.app: Use your iPhone/Ipod Touch as a wireless touchpad!
Use your iPhone/iPod Touch as a wireless touchpad mouse! You can click, double-click, drag, scroll AND type with it! You need a "jailbroken" iPhone/iPod Touch. (Don't know what that is? Try http://ww.ipodtouchfans.com for the heads up!)
Works on PC, Mac and Linux.
How to install Touchpad.app for Mac Users:
* Install the app on you ipod touch. (add this source to installer.app "http://cnp.qlnk.net/" then look under utilities)
* To allow control over your screen got to System prefs > Sharing.
* Turn on "Screen Sharing" (or "Apple Remote Desktop" on older Macs); the Mac will tell you a management IP address, you'll need this later.
* Turn on VNC viewer controls in the settings box, and give it a password. (So you don't leave your mac open)
* Go to the app in your ipod and click the + inside the app to add a vnc service.
* give your service a name "Macbook" for example
* Enter the IP address and password from earlier
* Save and click on the service to control your mac!
You may wonder how you scroll... the far right hand side of the ipod screen is used for this!
Try it its great!

thank you for the info.
MACBookPro, Leopard.
After *ScreenSharing* I do not get the iP Adress, but the name:
vnc://xxxxxxxx.local/.
Using this adress in "TouchPad" I get the message: No Server found with this name.
Any idea? Thanx
hmm. not sure why it doesn't show an IP. However you should be able to find your IP address in System Prefs > Network
Works great! What a sweet concept:D
Hey!
I've got a MBP, Leopard, fully updated Mac OSX, iPhone 8GB, fw 1.1.1.
Followed your instructions, but when I try to connect to my MBP, I get a notice "Connection failed; No server with the name vnc" (with or without the password to connect the devices).
What could be the problem?
Thanks for the response.
I followed these steps and tried a ton of variants, nothing's working. When I try just my IP address I get the message "Connection could not be made to host xxx.xxx.x.xxx port 5900." If I put vnc:// in front of it, it says "No server with the name vnc." If I try xxx.xxx.x.xxx.local, it shows the "Connecting to server..." message for a little while, then "No server with the name xxx.xxx.x.xxx.local." I also did everything in System Preferences and tried changing stuff around, still not working.
your ip address is just the numbers. don't type vnc or anything just the numbers ie 196.345.12.23. Ignore the :5900 bit at the end aswell you don't need it
Joseph sounds like your firewall is blocking it. Are you sure you have turned on scren sharing or remote desktop? What mac osx are you on?
Everything OK now, works great!
Tnx!
works great with my xps m1210 on xp! thanks sherwani.
this is super sweet. thanks!
@ Josef and Archetype
On Leopard, both screen sharing and remote management must be turned on... ;)
